Chat Popouts

Move a conversation into its own native window while preserving the same workspace, thread, and streaming response.

Existing-thread popout

Use the thread popout action from chat or the sidebar. The new window keeps the thread’s workspace fixed and uses its title as the window title. The sidebar can open an existing thread directly as a popout.

Draft popout

Open a new-thread popout to start without creating a thread. The sidebar can also open draft popouts. Sending the first message creates the thread and updates the window to that thread.

Workspace selection

A system-wide draft can show a workspace selector in its title bar. Choose before sending so agents, tasks, branches, and files come from that project. Existing-thread popouts and drafts opened inside a workspace keep their workspace fixed. When a Central navigation link opens, the sidebar deliberately clears its active thread rather than carrying that thread into the Central destination.

One-window behavior

Each real thread has one tracked popout. Reopening its popout focuses the existing window. Drafts are tracked separately, and a new draft can be opened after the previous draft creates a thread.

Always-on-top

Toggle Always on top in the popout title bar to keep it above other windows.

Background behavior

Hiding or occluding a popout pauses its periodic refresh work. An in-progress streaming response continues.

Close and reopen

Closing the window clears popout tracking in the main app; it does not archive or delete the thread. Reopen the thread from its workspace and use the popout action again.

Browser fallback

When the native desktop bridge is unavailable, Aiola opens a separate browser window.
