Chat Popouts

Chat popouts move a conversation into a separate native desktop window while keeping it connected to the same workspace and thread data.

Pop out an existing thread

Use the thread popout action from the workspace chat or sidebar. Aiola opens that thread in its own window. If a popout for the same thread is already open, Aiola focuses that window instead of creating a duplicate. The window title follows the thread title.

Start with an independent draft

Open a new-thread popout to begin without creating a thread first. The draft becomes a normal thread when you send its first message, and the window updates to that new thread. Draft windows are tracked separately from real threads. After a draft creates its thread, you can open another new draft for the same workspace.

Choose a workspace

A draft opened from the system-wide action can show a workspace selector in its title bar. Choose the workspace before sending the first message so the draft loads that project’s agents, tasks, branches, and files. Popouts opened for an existing thread or from inside a specific workspace keep that workspace fixed.

Window behavior

• The popout uses the same project-scoped chat surface as other Aiola chat views.
• Toggle Always on top from the popout title bar when you want it above other windows.
• Hiding or occluding a popout pauses its periodic refresh work, while an in-progress streaming response continues.
• Closing the window notifies the main app so its popout tracking can be cleared.

In the desktop app, popouts are native windows. Where the native bridge is unavailable, Aiola falls back to a separate browser window.

Reopen a conversation

Closing a popout does not archive or delete its thread. Open the thread from its workspace again, then use the popout action whenever you want a separate window. Because each real thread has one tracked popout, repeated attempts return you to the existing window rather than splitting the same conversation across duplicates.
