Open Central Settings → Appearance to change how Aiola looks and how its navigation is arranged.

Theme mode and presets

Choose Light, Dark, or System. System mode keeps separate light and dark configurations and follows the operating system. For each visible mode, you can:
  • choose a theme preset
  • preview the resulting colors
  • change the main interface colors with a picker or hex value
  • expand the editor to adjust secondary colors
  • reset the appearance to its defaults
Changing a color makes that mode a custom theme. Settings save automatically and are applied immediately to the active mode. On macOS, enable Translucent sidebar and set the glass opacity separately for light and dark modes. The sidebar-specific color is also available on macOS. Windows does not expose the glass controls because its sidebar uses the card color. You can also adjust the interface border radius and choose whether interactive elements use pointer cursors. Workspace Icons shows workspace logos instead of folder icons in thread lists.

Quick Note position

Quick Note is always available. Choose where its scratchpad opens:
  • top left, center, or right
  • middle left, center, or right
  • bottom left, center, or right
The current Quick Note shortcut is shown elsewhere in the Notebook note list and can be changed in Central Settings → Keybinds.

Customize navigation

The Sidebar Layout editor has separate Workspace and Central tabs.
1

Arrange destinations

Drag navigation items within a section, between sections, or into the Settings popover bucket.
2

Organize sections

Edit section labels, add sections, or remove a section. When possible, items from a removed section move into a neighboring section.
3

Review both sidebars

Switch between Workspace and Central to configure each navigation layout independently.
Threads and the fixed Settings actions shown in the preview are anchors, not draggable navigation items. Use Reset in the Sidebar Layout editor to restore the default navigation arrangement. The theme editors also provide their own reset control for appearance values.
