# Connect a Mobile Device

> Pair a phone with Aiola on macOS over your local network or Tailscale and manage its access.

Mobile pairing is currently available from the macOS desktop app. Windows shows a coming-soon state.

## Choose your connection

* **LAN or Wi-Fi** works while the Mac and phone can reach the same local network.
* **Tailscale** supports encrypted access away from that network when the Mac and phone are signed into the same Tailscale account.

Aiola discovers the available LAN and Tailscale endpoints and includes compatible routes in one pairing code. The phone tries them in preferred order.

## Pair the phone

    In the desktop app, open **Central Settings → Connections**.

  <Step title="Allow network connections">
    Enable **Allow LAN connections**. Aiola restarts its local server and lists the reachable connection addresses.

  <Step title="Add a device">
    In **Devices**, select **Add**. Aiola generates a short-lived secure QR code.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Approve on the phone">
    Scan the QR code from the Aiola mobile app and complete the approval on the device.

You can generate a new code from the pairing dialog if the current code expires or cannot be scanned.

  For access away from home, install Tailscale on both devices before pairing and sign in to the same Tailscale account.

## Check connection status

The Devices list shows paired and currently connected devices. Depending on the connection, it can show:

* device name and platform
* online or offline state
* remote address
* last-seen time
* connection or pairing time

The list refreshes periodically and when the desktop app regains focus. Connections without a paired device credential may appear separately and cannot be revoked from the paired-device action.

## Revoke access

Select **Revoke access** beside a paired device and confirm. The device is signed out immediately and can no longer control the Mac.

Revocation does not prevent future use: pair the device again with a new QR code when you want to restore access.

  Enabling LAN connections makes Aiola's local server reachable through the listed network interfaces. Revoke devices you no longer recognize or use.
